Thirtheenth Max Perutz Prize to Professor Mariusz Jaskólski

The 2024 Max Perutz Prize of the European Crystallographic Association has been awarded to Professor Mariusz Jaskólski from the Faculty of Chemistry at A. Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland.

Professor Jaskólski is being honored for his lifetime dedication to crystallographic studies of medically relevant macromolecules. His achievements include the co-discovery of the first retroviral protein which contributed to the successful development of effective drugs against AIDS. Additionally, Professor Jaskólski has made significant contributions to the methodology of ultrahigh-resolution and superstructure modulation in protein crystallography, the structural biology of plant hormone regulation, and most recently, structural studies of enzymes for potential applications as antileukemic drugs.

Throughout his career, Professor Jaskólski has been actively involved in various scientific committees and organizations, including serving as an elected member of the Commission on Biological Macromolecules of the International Union of Crystallography and as vice-president of the European Crystallographic Association from 2003 to 2006.
