STATUTES (Rules)
1. Title
Special Interest Group within the European Crystallographic Association (ECA) on “Instrumentation and Experimental Techniques” (IET) .
2. Objectives
The principal objectives of the SIG are to support advances in crystallographic research, bring together researchers interested in these areas, and to define benchmarks and reference standards for instrumentation and methods as required.
3. Membership
All European crystallographers interested in Instrumentation and Experimental Techniques (IET) are encouraged to join the IET SIG. They are encouraged to register as Individual Members of the ECA. Membership should be representative of both geographical spread and the spread over the subfields as far as possible.
4. Organisation
The activities of the IET SIG will be organised by its Stearing Committee, consisting of ten members: Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and seven ordinary members. The election procedure for the Stearing Committee and the maximum period of office for its Committee members, will be established during the start-up period of the SIG,
which will cover three years. During the start-up period the Stearing Committee will initially consist of the Promoter as Chairperson and four Councillors, from which a Vice Chairperson and Secretary will be nominated from within the sub-group. The other members of the Stearing Committee will be added as soon as practicable in the start-up period. A Founding Members additional group is added so as to widen the representation and provide additional consultative input to the Stearing Committee.
5. Activities
The SIG should:
– Organise microsymposia and plenary talks at the ECM.
– Coordinate and organise additional meetings, seminars, workshops and schools, and Satellite Meetings of the ECM.
– Cooperate with the various IUCr Commissions in the organisation of corresponding microsymposia at IUCr Congresses.
– Give advice and consultation about European and international collaboration in this field.
– Facilitate the definition of benchmarks and reference standards for instrumentation and methods as required
