{"id":12,"date":"2023-06-28T09:16:21","date_gmt":"2023-06-28T09:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecanews.org\/individual-members\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2024-12-12T16:51:15","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T16:51:15","slug":"scope-and-objectives","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ecanews.org\/sig-07\/","title":{"rendered":"Scope and objectives"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #008000\"><strong>SIG-07<\/strong> pursues the <strong>advancement<\/strong> of the field of solid-state <strong>Molecular Interaction and Recognition<\/strong> (M<\/span><span style=\"color: #008000\">IR),<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #008000\">promoting the employment of (advanced) crystallographic techniques to rationalise the chemico-physical properties of matter on the basi<\/span><span style=\"color: #008000\">s of MIR.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Crystallography offers a powerful and versatile basket of techniques to undertake theoretical, experimental, and applied studies regarding MIR.<\/p>\n<p>In this respect, SIG-07:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right\" hspace=\"2\" vspace=\"20\" src=\"https:\/\/ecanews.org\/sig-07\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/12\/SIG7_webpages_picture1_v2-300x253.jpg\" width=\"237\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square\">\n<li>provides a stimulating forum for all the ECA crystallographers who work in any of the cutting-edge fields in which MIR play a crucial role in modulating the structural features and functional properties of a material;<\/li>\n<li>connects and represents scientists &#8211; chemists, physicists, mathematicians, materials scientists, geologists &#8211; active on MIR topics, thus<br \/>\nadvancing exchange of ideas and collaborations;<\/li>\n<li>promotes the participation of scientists working in the MIR fields at the European Crystallographic Meetings and other ECA-supported activities (meetings, seminars, workshops, schools, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>contributes to the recognition of Crystallography as an interdisciplinary science.<b style=\"color: #008000;text-align: center\">\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the light of this, SIG-07:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square\">\n<li>is actively involved in organising:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle\">\n<li>microsymposia as well as keynote and plenary lectures at the European Crystallographic Meetings, also in cooperation with other Special and General Interest Groups;<\/li>\n<li>ECA satellite meetings, seminars, workshops and schools, also in cooperation with other Special and General Interest Groups;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>cooperates with the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) Commission for Structural Chemistry in organising microsymposia at the IUCr Congresses;<\/li>\n<li>endorses, via the ECA, patronage and financial support for teaching activities involving MIR as a topic;<\/li>\n<li>promotes any other activity aiming to pursue the progress and spread of crystallography-based scientific research in the field of MIR.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SIG-07 pursues the advancement of the field of solid-state Molecular Interaction and Recognition (MIR), promoting the employment of (advanced) crystallographic techniques to rationalise the chemico-physical properties of matter on the basis of MIR.
