{"id":12,"date":"2023-06-28T09:16:21","date_gmt":"2023-06-28T09:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecanews.org\/individual-members\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2026-01-25T17:38:20","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T17:38:20","slug":"scope-and-objectives","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ecanews.org\/sig-06\/","title":{"rendered":"Scope and objectives"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>The mission of\u00a0 the <a title=\"European Crystallographic Association\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ecanews.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Crystallographic Association<\/a> SIG6 (<em>Special Interest Group 6<\/em>) is to promote access and awareness of crystallographers to <strong>new Instruments and Experimental Techniques<\/strong>.\u00a0 This concerns instrumentation &amp; methods and particularly those who use synchrotron-radiation, FEL, neutrons and combined methods. We are involved in the organization of schools, conferences and symposia for the ECM-Meetings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h1>SIG-06 Officers<\/h1>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p><em>The SIG6 was founded in 2000 led by Prof John R Helliwell whereby the appropriate documentation of the SIG6 name, constitution and supporter signatories was submitted to and approved by the ECA Council. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Between 2000 to 2004 the Officers were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prof John R Helliwell, Chairman ECA IET SIG.<\/li>\n<li>Prof Jacek Grochowski, Vice-Chairman ECA IET SIG.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In 2005, at Florence,<br \/>\nAs the Chairman J. Helliwell had served 5 years in establishing and then running the SIG he proposed the Vice-Chairman J L Hodeau to be the next Chairman.
