SUMMARY:2nd CCP4/BGU Workshop on Advanced Methods for Macromolecular Structure Determination
DESCRIPTION:Dear All\,\nWe are very pleased to announce the 2nd CCP4/BGU Workshop on Advanced Methods for Macromolecular Structure Determination\, which will take place at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) in Beer-Sheva\, Israel\, between 23rd February to 4th March\, 2020.\nThe workshop is limited to 25 participants\, and everybody who is interested is welcome to apply.\nThe workshop program will be suitable for last-year PhD students\, as well as postdoctoral researchers and young scientists in their first years of research.\nThe workshop will embrace the full course of Macromolecular Crystallography and Cryo-EM: from data collection to structure solution and PDB Deposition\, with a particular emphasis on practical aspects of each and every step.\nIn addition\, all participants will have an opportunity to carry out remote data collection at Diamond Light Source on their own samples.\nA team of leading structural biology software developers from around the world will present lectures and tutorials and will also be available to help participants with their own projects\, such as processing own data and solving structures during hands-on sessions of the workshop.\nMore information\, including “how to apply”\, registration form and tentative program\, can be found at: https://lifeserv.bgu.ac.il/wp/ccp4workshop/\nThe closing date for application is 20.12.2019.\nBest wishes\, \nAnat Shahar & Eugene Krissinel

SUMMARY:4th International Symposium on Halogen Bonding (ISXB-4)
DESCRIPTION:Dear Friends and Colleagues \nWe are pleased to invite you to attend the 4th International Symposium on Halogen Bonding (ISXB-4) to be held in Stellenbosch\, South Africa\, 23-27 March 2020. \nAs with the previous symposia in this series\, the aim of ISXB-4 is to bring together scientists from a variety of disciplines\, but with a common interest in the halogen bond and related interactions. The symposium will cover both experimental and theoretical aspects of a broad range of fields such as medicinal chemistry\, chemical biology\, materials science and industrial applications through keynote addresses\, contributed presentations and posters. Following on from the previous meetings there will be a focus on young scientists\, with special sessions for emerging investigators and for undergraduates and high-school learners. \nISXB-4 will be held on the picturesque campus of Stellenbosch University\, which is situated in the heart of the historical town of Stellenbosch\, a popular tourist destination surrounded by mountains and vineyards. It is well-known for the excellent locally-produced wine\, good food and a range of modern art galleries.
