DESCRIPTION:The Zurich School is intended primarily for young researchers in the chemical\, molecular and solid state sciences. Applicants from all regions of the world will be considered. The goal is that the participants gain hands-on experience plus a theoretical background in the art and science of routine crystal and molecular structure determination of small molecules by single-crystal X-ray crystallography\, as well as in the interpretation and presentation of results. The School will consist of lectures\, computer exercises and practical work. The School is ideal for anyone for whom a knowledge of crystal structure analysis would be particularly helpful in their current research.

DESCRIPTION:Registrations to the EMU school 2017 are now open! Please spread the news! \nThe 2017 EMU (European Mineralogical Union) school on “Mineral\nfibres: crystal chemistry\, chemical-physical properties\, biological interaction and toxicity” will be held in Modena (Italy) on June 19-23\, 2017. The related EMU Notes Volume will be also released during the school. \nThe school addresses advanced graduate and PhD students as well as young and experienced researchers with an interest in mineral fibres.\nThe school will cover different multidisciplinary aspects related to the study of natural fibres and is thus aimed at students with a background in Biology\, Chemistry\, Geology\, Material Science\, Medicine\, Physics who strive for working in the field of mineral fibre and asbestos and want to acquire both a strong background in this specific area of environmental protection and a multidisciplinary open vision of the asbestos related problems. \nFor detailed information and REGISTRATION (ON-LINE) go to the web site: emu2017.unimore.it \nTravel grants will be issued by EMU and IUCr for young scientists participating at the school (see the web site for the details).\nThe selection will be made by the school organizers in due time. DESCRIPTION:FPSchool aims to contribute to the training of scientists in treatment of X-ray and neutron diffraction data. \nThe school is based on intensive hands-on sessions using the computer programs of the FullProf Suite. SUMMARY:Introduction to the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD)
DESCRIPTION:The Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) and its accompanying software for search and analysis (ConQuest\, Mercury\, IsoStar and Mogul) – together known as the CSD System (CSDS) – is a fundamental resource in structural chemistry\, finding applications in academia and in industry across a broad range of topics such as drug design and discovery\, drug development and formulation\, and materials science. \nThe workshop will provide information about the CSD itself\, its content and its production. The CSDS software will be described\, and a number of hands-on examples of the use of the CSDS to address real problems of both industrial and academic importance will be followed.

SUMMARY:MATRAC Summer School 'Application of Neutrons and Synchrotron Radiation in Engineering Materials Science
DESCRIPTION:We take pleasure in informing you that registration is now open for our MATRAC Summer School ‘Application of Neutrons and Synchrotron Radiation in Engineering Materials Science’ to be held in Hamburg/Ammersbek\, Germany\, from September 21 to 25\, 2015 in cooperation with the Röntgen-Ångström-Cluster and the Virtual Institute of the Helmholtz Association ‘New X-ray Analytic Methods in Material Science’ (VI-NXMM). The school will provide a systematic overview of the application of neutrons and synchrotron radiation to the structural analysis in applied materials. All relevant experimental methods will be covered in a three-day course which will be followed by a two-day practical. The practical at GEMS/DESY in Hamburg will cover various diffractometers\, SAXS instruments and tomography stations. Neutron data analysis will also be practised.
